An old man lived alone on the remote shores of Hachijou Island. Until, that is, a baby covered in a glowing membrane washed up on the beach. The next day, the old man saw that the baby was, well, no longer a baby. He had grown to be a young child. For the next ten days, the rapid aging continued, all while he was still inside the mysterious membrane. At that point he was a young man, and the membrane disappeared. The old man named him Touya and took care of him. He warned not to leave the island because Touya was so different from other humans: for one thing, he could fly. Touya did not mind at all until he met a happy little girl who came there to fish with her father. The girl gave him a seashell, said a few words, then left. For the next seven years, Touya would sit in the same spot at the same time everyday, and gaze at the seashell. He wanted to see the girl again, and all he could do was wait. Soon, the old man died. After this, Touya left the island in search of this "Mikage" girl. That name was the only lead he had. Unfortunately, he became the victim of a hit-and-run car accident. When he awoke in a park in the bushes, the only things he remembered were "Touya" and "Mikage". He correctly assumed that his name was Touya, and went to search for the "Mikage". Kagami found him and said he could help bring back his memories if he worked for him. He was taught the use of firearms and martial arts. Once Kagami found out about his special abilities, he gave him a bonus, a car, and a condo. The story picks up from there.
