When Alec first meets Touya, he immediately mentions that he is into anime and video games, and that his type of girl is Shiori from some video game. Touya just thinks Alec is one heck of a weirdo. They don't really interact until much later in the story. After Touya bursts into the Mikage Lab to save Aya, Alec pretends to be held captive by Touya to let him escape. After they get away, he explains everything that he knows about the memories, including the fact that the microchip harboring fake memories inside Touya's brain is now harmless. He then leads them to his secret lab, with the warning that Aya may never wake up. Needless to say, Touya is very thankful for the help, though he still doesn't understand Alec's reasoning for why Mikage International's goals.
The second rescue comes after Touya is shot to death by Shiso. Just as Touya is being transported for an extremely thorough autopsy, Alec snatches his body and rides off. Since Alec knows about Touya's fixation on the ocean, he tosses him into the sea, where at least his body can remain in peace. It is because of this that Touya is able to come back at the very end.
